Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account on Dovetail and use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you have the right, authority, and capacity to enter into this Agreement.

2. User conduct & zero tolerance for objectionable content

Dovetail has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. You agree not to use the Service to:

• Post or share content that is illegal, abusive, harassing, hateful, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
• Post nudity, sexually explicit or suggestive content, or solicit sexual contact.
• Threaten, intimidate, or promote violence or self-harm against any person.
• Post content that sexualizes or endangers minors. Dovetail is an adults-only service with zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation; see our Child Safety Standards. Such content is reported to authorities.
• Harass, bully, stalk, or send unwanted contact to another user.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or create a fake or misleading profile.
• Send spam, scams, phishing, or solicit money; or share another person's private information without consent.
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose, or violate any applicable law.

These rules are detailed in our Community Guidelines, which are incorporated into and form part of these Terms. By using the Service you agree to abide by them.

The Service provides tools to report objectionable content or abusive users and to block any user. Reports are reviewed and acted upon, typically within 24 hours; uploaded photos are additionally screened by automated content moderation. We reserve the right to remove content and to investigate, suspend, or terminate your account without notice and without a refund if you violate this Agreement.

3. The "Courting" and commitment

The Service's core feature is a timed chat with a match ("Courting"). At the conclusion of the Courting, you and your match may choose to commit to continue the conversation in an exclusive mode. During this early release, continuing is free.

Committing grants you and your match exclusive access to each other within the App. This means you will not be shown in the "Wishing Hour" to other users, nor will you see other users' Feathers, for as long as your exclusive chat is active. We may introduce a paid commitment option in the future; if we do, any fees and their terms will be disclosed before you are charged.

4. Account termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms or our Community Guidelines. Objectionable content, harassment, or abuse may result in immediate suspension or a permanent ban.

You may terminate your account at any time from your account settings (Settings → Delete account), or by following our account deletion instructions.

5. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We make no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding the operation of the Service or the information, content, or materials included therein. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

6. Limitation of liability

In no event shall Dovetail, nor its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service.
