How to request deletion of your Dovetail account and associated data
This page explains how to request that your Dovetail account (developer: Faiyaz Chowdhury) and its associated data be deleted. You can delete your account yourself from inside the app in a few seconds, or contact us to request deletion if you can no longer sign in.
Option 1 — Delete in the app (fastest)
- 1 Open the Dovetail app and sign in.
- 2 Go to Settings (the gear icon).
- 3 Tap Delete account.
- 4 Confirm when prompted. Your account and data are deleted immediately and you are signed out.
Option 2 — Request by email
If you can no longer sign in or have removed the app, email us from the address associated with your account and we will delete it for you:
- Send an email to support@dovetail.dating
- Use the subject line “Delete my account”.
- Send it from the email address on your Dovetail account so we can verify the request.
We verify and complete email deletion requests within 30 days (typically much sooner).
What data is deleted
When your account is deleted, we permanently remove the following from our active systems:
- Your account and login credentials (email and password).
- Your profile: display name, date of birth, photos, and prompt answers.
- Your matching preferences and generated profile cards (“Feathers”).
- Your ratings (“Wishes”) and your matching pools.
- Your matches and all chat messages within them.
- Your block list and notification/device tokens.
- All photos you uploaded, from cloud storage.
What data is kept, and for how long
- Safety & moderation records: reports filed about your account, records that another user blocked you, and moderation flags may be retained as long as needed to keep the community safe, enforce our Terms, and comply with legal obligations — even after your account is deleted. - Backups: residual copies of deleted data that may exist in routine encrypted backups are purged within 30 days.
