Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation
Dovetail is a dating service strictly for adults aged 18 and older. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and for any form of child sexual abuse or exploitation (CSAE). This page describes the standards and practices we maintain to prevent, detect, and respond to such content and conduct, in line with Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy.
1. Adults only
- Dovetail is intended solely for people who are 18 years of age or older. Minors are not permitted to create an account or use the Service.
- Any account that appears to belong to a minor is removed immediately, and any content involving a minor is preserved and reported as required by law.
- We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we terminate it and delete the associated data.
2. Prohibited content and conduct
The following are strictly forbidden anywhere on Dovetail — in photos, profile prompts, messages, or any other content:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind.
- Any sexual content involving, depicting, or referencing a minor, real or simulated.
- Grooming, solicitation, or any attempt to sexualize, exploit, or endanger a child.
- Trafficking, sextortion, or the promotion, facilitation, or normalization of the sexual abuse of minors.
- Impersonating a minor, or presenting oneself as a minor.
3. How we prevent and detect abuse
- Age gating: users must confirm they are 18 or older, and our matching system is built exclusively around adult users.
- Automated photo screening: uploaded photos are automatically screened for adult, violent, and racy content. Images that fail screening are removed and the account is flagged for human review.
- Human moderation: our team reviews flagged content and reports, and acts on violations — typically within 24 hours.
- Account removal: we permanently ban the accounts and the people responsible for any CSAE violation, and we take steps to prevent them from returning.
4. In-app reporting
Every member can report a person or a specific message, and can block anyone, directly within the app. You'll find Report and Block in your match's chat, and blocked people are managed under Settings → Blocked users.
- Report flags content and conduct for our moderation team. Reports are confidential and reviewed promptly.
- Block immediately ends any current match, stops all contact, and prevents future matching with that person.
Child safety concerns are treated as the highest priority and are escalated immediately.
5. Compliance and reporting to authorities
Dovetail complies with all relevant child safety laws. When we identify apparent child sexual abuse material or exploitation, we remove it, preserve the relevant evidence, and report to the appropriate regional and national authorities, including the U.S. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via its CyberTipline where applicable.
If you become aware of a child in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services first. You can report suspected child sexual exploitation to NCMEC at report.cybertip.org.
