a place worth being
Community Guidelines & Content Policy
Last Updated: July 2, 2026 · Version 2026-07-02
Our promise: zero tolerance
Dovetail is built for one honest, intentional connection a day. To keep it a place worth being, we have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive behavior. These Guidelines are part of our Terms of Service and form the agreement (EULA) you accept when you create an account. By using Dovetail you agree to abide by them.
We act on reports of objectionable content and abusive users, remove violating content, and eject the people responsible — typically within 24 hours.
1. Who can be here
- You must be 18 or older. Accounts that appear to belong to minors are removed immediately.
- Be yourself. No impersonation, fake profiles, or accounts run on someone else's behalf.
- One person, one account. Accounts exist to meet real people, not to advertise, recruit, or sell.
2. Objectionable content & behavior — not allowed
There is no place on Dovetail for any of the following. This list is not exhaustive; we use judgment to keep the community safe.
- Nudity or sexual content in photos, prompts, or messages, including sexual solicitation.
- Harassment or bullying of any kind — unwanted contact, intimidation, or demeaning messages.
- Hate speech or attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age.
- Threats, violence, or self-harm content, or anything that endangers a person.
- Sexual content involving minors — ever. This is reported to the authorities. See our Child Safety Standards.
- Spam, scams, or fraud, including solicitation, phishing, and financial requests.
- Illegal activity, or sharing of another person's private information without consent (doxxing).
- Graphic or shocking material, including violence or gore.
3. Photos
Photos should clearly and honestly represent you, and be appropriate for a general audience. Uploaded photos are screened automatically for adult, violent, and racy content. Images that fail screening are removed and the account is flagged for review.
No nudity, no sexually suggestive imagery, no photos of other people presented as you, and no children.
4. Reporting & blocking
Every member can report a person or a specific message, and can block anyone. You'll find both in your match's chat (the ⋮ menu), and blocked people are managed under Settings → Blocked users.
- Report flags content for our moderation team. Reports are confidential.
- Block immediately ends any current match, stops all contact, and ensures you are never matched with that person again. They are not told they've been blocked.
We review reports and act on them, generally within 24 hours.
5. What happens when the rules are broken
Depending on severity and history, we may take any of the following actions — without prior notice:
- Remove the offending content or photo.
- Temporarily suspend the account.
- Permanently ban the account and the person behind it.
Serious violations — sexual content involving minors, credible threats, or illegal activity — result in an immediate permanent ban and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement.
6. Staying safe
- Keep conversations in the app until you trust someone. Never send money.
- Protect your personal information — address, finances, and documents.
- If you ever feel unsafe or are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
7. Agreement & contact
By creating an account and using Dovetail, you agree to these Community Guidelines and to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. You acknowledge that there is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users, and that violating this agreement may result in removal from the Service.
